On Saturday, the Wildcats swept the Fillmore Central Panthers at home, winning all four games of the night including the boys and girls junior varsity and varsity matches. Before the game, the Ladycats were 8-2 and the Panthers were 10-2 losing to St.Cecilia and Adam Central. The Panthers were missing some important players to injuries. This was a hard fought physical game that was close all four quarters. The Ladycats won with a final score of 32-48.
The Wildcat boys basketball team played the Fillmore Central Panthers following the girls game. The Wildcats record was 1-8 while FilmoreÕs was 1-9. Fillmore Central was in the lead most of the first quarter. The Wildcats then quickly gained momentum to have a 20 point lead over the Panthers in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Panthers caught up and the Cats were winning by only two points with few minutes left on the clock. The Wildcats won with a score of 53-48 giving them a 2-8 record.
The entire team shot well with Hunter Healey scoring 11 points, Dane Miller 10, Zeke Meyer eight, Conner Blackstone seven and both Jackson Gilbert and Jedd Whitmore with six. Seth Schnakenburg rebounded 11 shots while Dane Miller rebounded six. Jackson Gilbert had three of the Cats 10 assists for the night. Dane Miller had six steals and blocked two shots. The Wildcats next played Heartland on Tuesday but results were not available at press time. The Cats will play at Sandy Creek Saturday.
