The Nuckolls County Knights, the middle school football team made up of students from Superior and Lawrence-Nelson, opened their season last Tuesday. The Rock Hills Grizzlies made short work of plucking the feathers of the St.John’s-Tipton Catholic Blujays Friday at Beloit. Rock Hills needed all of two quarters to score 46 points while holding St. John’s scoreless. The mercy rule was invoked and the Grizzlies had an early arrival back home. The Nuckolls County Ag Society hosted two Nebraska High School rodeos over the weekend, one Saturday and the other on Sunday on the fairgrounds at Nelson. Four contestants were from Nuckolls County: Bayleigh Bohlen, Jasper Elledge, Monty Hajny and Josie Hajny. Josie also competes in barrells and break-away roping. It was a long bus ride to Howells for the Lawrence-Nelson Raiders for their first game of the season. It was an even longer ride home after falling 36-8 to the Howells-Dodge Jaguars.
