    The Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team split their two matches at the Harvard triangular last Tuesday. The Raiders swept, 25-16 and 25-11, in two sets, the hapless and winless Harvard Cardinals. The Kenesaw Blue Devils swept the Raiders, 13-25 and 25-27, in two sets. The Shelton Bulldogs proved to be no friendlier as they swept the Raiders, 17-25, 17-25 and 14-25, in three sets at Shelton Thursday.     It has taken three games this year, but the L-N Raiders finally got to entertain an opposing school in this 2024 season. The anticipation was complicated, as the opposition was Wilcox-Hildreth (W-H), the second team on this year's schedule that played well in the state 2023 Football Playoffs.     Thirty-two golfers came out Sunday for the Two Couple Scramble Tournament to finish out the 2024 golf season at the Lawrence Country Club. Winners in the championship flight were the team of Dale and Tami Kohmetscher and Keith and Carolyn Kohmetscher with a 2-round total of 57.     A sluggish first quarter did nothing to deter the Rock Hills Grizzlies as they roared back for a 66-16 over the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at Mankato Friday. Rock Hills trailed 8-0 at the end of the first quarter. They made some adjustments on offense while tightening up the defense. The result was a 28-16 lead at the half.     It was a tough three days for the Rock Hill crosss country team as they competed in two meets. This allowed little time for rest and recovery. The team competed at the Washington County Invitational meet Thursday and the Wamego Invitational Saturday. The Washington meet featured mild hill with warm and windy weather conditions.     Once again it was a tale of two halves. For the first two quarters, Superior and Cross County played to a 6-6 tie at Stromsburg Friday. Defensive lapses in the third quarter allowed the Cougars to open up a 20-6 lead after three quarters. The Raiders received an unfriendly welcome at Friend, last Tuesday, when the Exeter-Milligan-Friend Bobcats handed them a 17-25, 17-25 and 21-25 sweep.     The Rock Hills Grizzlies made short work of plucking the feathers of the St.John’s-Tipton Catholic Blujays Friday at Beloit.     The Nuckolls County Ag Society hosted two Nebraska High School rodeos over the weekend, one Saturday and the other on Sunday on the fairgrounds at Nelson.
