Folks are shaking this month in southern Nebraska. Two quakes exceeding 2.0 magnitude were reported Tuesday morning. The epicenters of the two quakes were about 3 miles apart. The stronger and first of the two measured 2.9. A second quake coming about12 minutes later at 6:15 a.m. measured 2.5 magnitude and was located about 7 miles east, northeast of Cowles. Two juveniles were detained after a rash of garage burglaries in Superior Friday night. At least six, and possibly up to nine structures were burglarized before they were apprehended. Rock Hills Schools has a new superintendent this year. Jeff Sells, the new superintendent, is from Belleville. He has lived in Jewell County for a little more than a month and said he moved here to take the open position. "This is home without being home," Sells said. A Davenport mother and child were killed and three other family members hospitalized when their vehicle collided with a semi-trailer truck traveling on Highway 6 near the Clay and Adams county line last Wednesday.
