    The 12th Judicial District Nominating Commission is seeking nominations to fill a district judge vacancy in Cloud County. This vacancy will be created Jan. 1, when District Magistrate Judge Guy Steier resigns and Administrative Order 2024-JA-096 goes into effect. The order converts the Cloud County district magistrate judge position number 1 into a new district judge division number 2, also in Cloud County.   • Crash causes anhydrous ammonia leak

    Highway 14 was closed near the Clay County line for a time Friday morning after two anhydrous ammonia nurse tanks broke free from a tow vehicle, left the highway and crashed in a ditch about a mile north of the Highway 4 East junction. The tanks apparently were partially full of the compressed gas which turned to a hazardous vapor as it escaped from the tanks.
