    The Mankato Volunteer Fire Department was called about 3:30 last Thursday morning when it was discovered a house on East Street, near the Rock Hills Secondary School, was on fire. The house had been unoccupied since the death of Bruce Burkhart though it was still full of his belongings. He died June 23.     A 20-year-old man from Lawrence died shortly after 11 p.m. last Wednesday when his truck collided with a vehicle driven by a Guide Rock resident on U.S. Highway 281 about a quarter-mile south of the Adams County community of Ayr.     This is fair week in Jewell County. Blue Jeans and Country Dreams is the theme for the annual fair now underway on the fairgrounds near the northern edge of Mankato.
