    By Robbin Cole, CEO Pawnee Mental Health Services Earlier this year, Mental Health America placed Kansas 51st in the nation (including DC) in terms of overall mental health. The report ranked the states in 15 different measures. The measures that had the largest impact on the overall ranking for Kansas were youth with substance use disorder, adults with any mental illness and adults with serious thoughts of suicide.     Youngsters participating in Superior Public Library's summer reading program followed the adventures of Flat Stanley, a character in a popular book series for young readers. Jeff Brown, the author of the book series, wrote the first Flat Stanley book in 1964. He did not write another Flat Stanley book for more than 20 years. Then he wrote five more books.     On July 31, at their regular meeting the commissioners will decide on a proposal for installation of an automated teller machine (ATM) in the lobby of the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office at the county courthouse. The ATM would be installed and serviced through Farmway Credit Union. The cost to Jewell County would be limited to minimal electricity used in powering the machine.
