The Superior Good Samaritan Society facility underwent their annual survey by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The survey, which takes more than three days to conduct, examines every aspect of the facility. Dietary, housekeeping, social services, patient care and documentation, in addition to many others, are subjected to a close inspection. An unusual tornado struck the community of Sutton at 6:53 Saturday morning causing considerable damage to the northeast Clay County community. The National Weather Service has estimated the peak wind speed was 110 miles per hour. The tornado traveled about 1.6 miles and at its maximum was 260 yards wide. It lasted about 3 minutes. For Superior school students thinking summer was flying by way to fast, on Friday they got what some considered to be good news. The $1.6 million remodellng project started before the spring semester concluded is behind schedule and the state fire marshal did not approve the plan to begin the fall semester on Aug. 10. Tuesday, the City of Superior entered into a Water Watch until further notice. Because of drought conditions, residents of Superior are asked to voluntarily reduce their water usage. Furthermore, residents with even number addresses are asked to water their lawns on even days and odd numbered addresses to water on odd numbered days.
