    Rae Hobson Memorial Library at Republic is sponsoring a summer library program for all ages called Imagine Your Story. It began July 7 and ends Aug. 13. People can color a giant Imagine Your Story poster placed in the library. It is used for imagine play with story stones for all ages to talk about “our” story.     To show Superior’s first responders how much they are appreciated and to thank them for their service to the community, a Fill the Truck event will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., Saturday, in the Ideal Market parking lot.     Jake Kleen Memorial Scholarships are awarded annually to three area high school seniors. The 2020 recipients are: Hallie Epley,Lawrence-Nelson; Caleb Jalas, Deshler; and Hunter Healey, Superior.   • Chester youth restore court

    The basketball court in Chester's North Park received a facelift last week, thanks to some volunteers. Chester youths, Andrew Heinrichs, Carter Miller, Dakota Cherney, Noah Cherney, Aidan White and Anthony Congdon-Meyer planned and worked to make the court look like new.     Saturday was the date for Chester's annual Chesterfest, but because of the concerns about the ongoing pandemic, the event was cancelled. In its place, the Chester Community Club organized activities which could be held within the state's COVID-19 regulations.     The old "Jewell County Jail" in Mankato was used from 1900 to 1978. In 1899, Jewell County commissioners paid a Topeka architect, J. C. Holland, $500 to design the building. The builder for the project was W. C. Berry of Jewell. Berry, with a bid of $6,700, had the low bid on the project according to the July 28, 1899 Jewell County Republican.     The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has been awarded a $75,000 grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust for the Rainwater Basin Wetland Management project.
