And it is the story of a struggling band of settlers who in early years overcame the frontier ravages of fires, pestilence and droughts to develop into an ambitious, vibrant community with a proud heritage. We like to think of it as a conquering spir...

What a weekend! We went to Fort Riley to visit Robert and my two adopted army brats and family. We arrived at the boys' place early in the afternoon on Friday. We were at the house long enough to use bathroom, kiss the baby and head out the door. The tumblers in the ignition were worn, and the old worn key that worked just fine all this time had gotten bent, so he was...

    Teraesa Bruce|Nov 25, 2021

Every year, thousands of people apply for a deer license with the hope of bagging a trophy buck and providing food for the family. Though I have never shot a deer, hunting season has been a big deal in my family. Almost more prominent than the holidays. My first-time deer hunt was my last! Waking up before the sun and sitting in the cold is not my idea of a good time. My experience with deer hunting comes after the deer has been shot and field-dressed.
