In conjunction with the open house held on the last Saturday of May, The community's main street was lined with old machines and a newspaper report of the event said their chugging, banging and clattering were deafening. Shopping starts at 3:30 p.m. and goes until 6:30 p.m. Santa Claus will be downtown from 3:30 to 5:30 in front of the Jewell County Museum.     Eight members were present for the November Mankato Chamber of Commerce meeting. President Jason Ortman called the meeting to order. Haley Nelson gave an update on the 2023 birthday calendars. Most of the calendars have been picked up or delivered. Fifteen of the extra calendars will be given to Jason Ortman for welcome bags for new residents.     The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has started mailing ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country. To be counted, ballots must be returned to the FSA office or postmarked by Dec. 5.     Saturday, October 29, Jewell’s Lake Emerson hosts its first ever Aisle of Frights. The event is family-friendly and Halloween-themed.
