Today (Thursday) is the day the Big Kansas Road Trip leaves the starting line. It crosses the finish line, Sunday, after traversing Republic, Jewell and Smith counties. The parade held each year as part of the annual Lady Vestey Victorian Festival is traditionally the festival’s most popular feature but the number of entries has been declining in recent years. Drug Take Back Day has become a staple with many organizations throughout the U.S. since its inception in September, 2010. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) started and continues the program to prevent increased pill abuse and theft, which can lead to illegal distribution. According to Nuckolls County treasurer, Tami Sharp, the delinquent taxpayer’s list that appeared in The Nuckolls County Locomotive-Gazette on Feb. 2, 9 and 16 and in The Superior Express on Feb. 16, means those taxes are up for sale.
