Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks at Lovewell State Park is sponsoring its 21st Annual Campground Christmas on Saturday. Campers at the state park are encouraged to decorate their campsites in a Christmas theme. Campers who choose to join in on the festivities need to register at the state park office, by 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Campsites will be judged after 8 p.m. on Saturday. The second 2023 rendition of Superior’s City-Wide Garage Sale is just more than a week away and the deadline for listing sale locations is much closer. The Superior Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee is sponsoring a sidewalk sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. An advertisement in this issue placed by the chamber lists 10 stores that will be participating. In addition several of those stores have also placed event advertising in this issue. It doesn’t appear that cold, rainy weather will be a problem for this year’s 148th rendition of the Nuckolls County Fair. Vehicles getting stuck in the parking pastures will also not be a problem as the mercury is expected to climb into the triple digits on fairgrounds located on top of a hill overlooking the Nuckolls County seat at Nelson. The Nebraska State Fair has added Three Dog Night to the Nebraska Lottery Concert Series. They will be performing Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the Heartland Events Center. The 2023 Soil Health Field Days is set to take place on Tuesday and Friday, Aug. 1 and 4, at the Green Cover headquarters in Bladen. The annual threshing bee sponsored by the Jewell County Historical Society will be held Saturday and Sunday. The bee showcases the way things were once done in Jewell County. The Jewell County Fair will be held July 7, 8 and 9 in Mankato. A popular event sweeping the Midwest is being offered this year starting at 7 p.m., on Friday, July 7. RK Goat Ropings, Palmer, Kansas, will be setting up a 50 by 30 area inside of the outdoor arena and 2-person teams will do goat roping on foot, coming out of the header and heeler chutes with the intent to rope the goat.
