    The Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team fell to the Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles, 49-25, at Nelson last Saturday, Dec. 10. The Raiders downed Friend 52-39, at Nelson, Friday to improve to 2-3 for the season. Kara Menke put up nine points to lead the Raiders against B-D-S. Katelyn Mazour produced five points.     The Lawrence-Nelson Raiders had a mighty struggle against the Friend Bulldogs, Friday, at Nelson. The Bulldogs handed the Raiders a 57-35 loss. Friend blanked the Raiders in the first quarter to take a 11-0 lead. Matters never improved much for the Raiders as the hole they found themselves in was too deep to escape.     Norman Deane (Jack) Mumford 84, of Hebron, the son of Chrisley and Lois (Holsteen) Mumford was born Sept. 8, 1938, in Hastings. He died Saturday, December 17, at Liberty House in Fairmont. Jack grew up in Nelson, Neb., attended Nelson High School and graduated from Central Community College as a machinist. Jack enlisted in the United States Navy Sept. 9, 1955. He was honorably discharged Jan. 17, 1960. Jack married Pauline Bartman on Nov. 22, 1957. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Scot. Jack married Carol Free on Dec. 1, 1965....
