    With a final score of 44 to 39, the Superior Wildcats claimed victory over Fairbury in varsity girls basketball played last Tuesday. Superior had 46 rebounds over Fairbury's 27 as well as 11 assists over their 6. Fairbury managed to steal 12 times while the Wildcats stole 10 times. Both teams successfully blocked three times each.     The Superior Wildcats were defeated 33 to 63 by Fairbury in varsity boy's basketball played last Tuesday in Superior. Fairbury had more rebounds with 27 over 15 and more assists - 15 to Superior's 8. They also had more steals at 9 over the Wildcats' 4.     Fern Marie Reed, 77, the daughter of Cecil and Irene (Bisbee) Figgins, was born Aug. 21, 1946, at the family farmstead near Burr Oak, Kansas. She died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at the Brodstone Healthcare Hospital in Superior, Nebraska. A lifelong resident of Jewell County, Fern grew up in the Burr Oak area. She received her education attending the Burr Oak schools, graduating with the class of 1965. She was united in marriage with Merl Reed on July 17, 1965, at the Methodist Church in Burr Oak.
