    Martin D. “Marty” Pohlman, the son of Martin and Elizabeth (Cullity) Pohlman, 80, of Superior died Wednesday Nov. 20, 2024 at the Brodstone Healthcare Hospital in Superior. Marty was currently working for Superior Publishing as a writer. Following Marty’s wishes, he was cremated and a private family service will take place at a later date. After high school, Steve moved to Lincoln, where he began his college education at the University of Nebraska at the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, with an emphasis in Water Resources. He died on Nov. 21, 2024, at the Brodstone Hospital in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 90 years, 1 month, 12 days. Ron graduated from Nelson High School in 1952. On April 7, 1956, he was united in marriage to LaVeta Fleck in Deweese, Nebraska. This union was blessed with five children. Ron farmed all of his life.     The Sandy Creek Cougars defeated Stanton 44-42 at UNL’s Memorial Stadium Monday afternoon for their first ever appearance at the state championship games. A year ago Stanton defeated Sandy Creek in the semifinals and went on to win the state title. Stanton scored first and at the half led with a score of 28 to 20.     The old Superior roller skating rink south of the Burlington Railroad tracks was a wood frame building with tar paper exterior and a series of windows that could be propped open during warm weather to ventilate the rink.
