At approximately 2:45 Sunday afternoon the Nuckolls County 911 dispatch center received a call reporting there was a fire in a Highway 136 ditch. However the caller was unable to give an address. The 2020 general election for the United States was held a last Tuesday. Interest was high and across the nation, voters turned out in record numbers. In Nebraska, unofficial results indicate that 88,279 more Nebraskans voted this year than in 2016. Thursday, the Lady Cats trekked to Lincoln for the fourth year in a row for the state volleyball tournament. They were matched up with Norfolk Catholic for their first round. There are 11 Superior Public School students participating in junior high wrestling this fall: four girls and seven boys. After two weeks of practice they competed at their first meet Saturday. Cheyenne Stacy and Brook Ekstine, (both girls) and one boy, Kyler Boyles, brought home a gold medals. The L-N Raider J V football team played a shortened football season this year and won their final game against Exeter-Milligan by a score of 35-6. The win gave the boys a 2-1 won-loss record. Since the arrival of the pandemic, area residents have been presented with a series of challenges. Rita and I are long-term Sunday school teachers but the classrooms at the church we have regularly attended are not large enough to allow for social distancing. We have relied on alternatives.
