Plant employees have had to keep a close watch on the river level and remove the plant’s ultraviolet treatment system to prevent damage. While the water has never gotte...

  • Editor's Notebook

    Bill Blauvelt|Oct 29, 2020

Several important days are included in the coming month of November. As a youngster, I thought there was only one important day in the entire month of November, that being Thanksgiving Day. I liked Thanksgiving Day for a number of reasons. It would have been a good day, if for no other reason than I didn’t have to go to school. But there were other reasons, Thanksgiving and Christmas were the only two days of the year that my father closed his gasoline station. On Thanksgiving, we went to his parents’ home for a dinner which featured tur...

  • Country Roads

    Gloria Schlaefli|Oct 29, 2020

We heard it was coming via weather reporters last night but had hoped we would be missed this time. I know, I know, we need the moisture but we had hoped fall rains would come instead. This snow fall came earlier than usual but like it or not it’s here. It’s covering my patio chair. I have enjoyed walking out onto the deck every morning and sitting with a cup of coffee to watch the birds flocking to the three feeders in the yard. The blo...

To top it all off, my body then decided it hated me. I hadn’t been feeling well for quite a while. A couple of weeks ago, I had my first major gallbladder attack. Long story short, I ended up staying the nig...

The Lady Cats lost the first set 24 to 26. They had a few key serving errors and fought back from behind, but could not catch up in the first set. "In set two, the...
