    Barbara Ann Jensen, the daughter of Harold and Janet (Scroggin) Crouch, was born Nov. 13, 1942, at Superior, Neb. She died Oct. 6, 2022, at the Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Deshler, Neb., at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 23 days. Barb spent her early childhood years in the Superior area and received her formal education attending and graduating from the Edgar High School.     On Thursday, Sept. 24, 2022, Miriam Giese, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend died at the age of 93. Miriam was born to George and Nora Graham in 1929 in Webber, Kan. The family soon moved from the farm near Webber to Man- kato.Miriam graduated from Mankato High School in 1947.     Wanda Marie Alcorn Anderson Thummel was born May 11, 1932, to William and Verday Hayman Alcorn in Ionia, Kan. Wanda died Oct. 6, 2022, at the age of 90 years, 4 months, 25 days. Wanda is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ted Thummel, and their family, James Alan and his wife, Sabrina, McLouth; Regina Marie, Topeka; Jonathan Peter and his wife, Karen, Topeka; and Joel Christopher, Salina.     The Superior High School girls golf team competed at the state Class Championship played over the Elks Golf Club Course at Columbus. The five team members, along with coach Kirk Utecht, have been savoring the experience of a return trip to the event. The team went into play with high expectations.     It was a time in coming but the Superior High school football team scored their first victory of the season with a convincing 73-32 trouncing of McCool Junction at Brodstone Memorial Field Friday. Though the weather was cool and partly cloudy, the Wildcat offense was hot and the defense was more than adequate to hold the opposition at bay.     The USD 5 Red Raiders competed at the Southern Nebraska conference meet run over the Fairbury High School course Thursday. Rowan Jarosik took top honors with his time of 17:15.     The Lawrence-Nelson High School football team extend their consecutive game win streak to five games with their 50-0 demolition of the Silver Lake Mustangs at Bladen Friday.
