The beginning stages will include outdoor projects such as moving of the oxygen tank, generator and water and gas lines in preparation for the new addition. Effective Monday, October 12, 2020, the Superior City Offices will have their doors closed to the public.     There’s alarming news to report this week on the COVID-19 front. Attempts to slow the spread of the cornavirus appear to have failed. Monday, South Heartland District Health Department (SHDHD) officials reported 54 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Friday to Monday time frame bringing the cumulative total number of cases in the four-county health district to 782.     We don’t have a lot of information as the investigation is on-going and the investigators are being pretty mum about what happened but if the advertising in this issue of The Express is any indication, the incident is being taken pretty serious. In recent days something inappropriate was flushed into the Superior sewer system.     The Nuckolls County Board of Commissioners met for their regularly scheduled meeting, Monday, at the county courthouse in Nelson. All three commissioners were present. The county road department reported that the core samples taken from the Edgar spur repaving project showed some defects in the base. The contractor is responsible for remedying the defects.     Nuckolls County has received another membership dividend, this time in the amount of $9,593, from the Nebraska Intergovernmental Risk Management Association (NIRMA), the county’s property, liability and workers’ compensation coverage and risk management services provider. The dividend was part of a $1 million distribution shared with 81 Nebraska counties and eight county-associated agencies.
