    DeAnna Tuttle|Oct 5, 2023

Thirteen was the lucky number of Rubies who motored to Blue Hill on Friday, Sept. 29, for lunch and to invade the local retail establishments. Following lunch at the local grocery and cafe, the group trooped next door to the Treasure Trove, where they were indeed able to find thrifty treasures. After visiting several other establishments, the group was ready to indulge in lattes, mochas, flavored coffee and other specialty items at the shop located on the other side of the grocery-cafe. Those attending were Carol Eckles, Pat Drexel, Marcia...

  • Raider Football improve to 4-2 record with Kenesaw victory

    Oct 5, 2023

The L-N Raider football team improved their season record to four wins and two losses last Friday with a 32 to 20 victory over always tough Kenesaw. The game resembled that old saying of "two steps forward and one step back." The old saying seemed to repeat itself, more or less, throughout the game. To wit: Quarter No. 1: Three downs and punt. Kenesaw first; L-N second; Kenesaw third. Enough of that . . . following a Rocky Miller tackle on a Kenesaw 3rd and 1 yard to go situation that forced a K...

  • L-N volleyball wins one and loses three

    Oct 5, 2023

The Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team has the right to question why the Nebraska School Activities Association bothers with classifications. The Raiders are in Class D-2. This is determined by enrollment. One look at their schedule belies this fact. The Raiders have games against five D2 schools. They go against 11 D1 schools, five C2 schools and a C1 school. Since wild card points are one way to qualify for a spot at districts, Lawrence-Nelson is behind before they begin. In spite of this they rank higher in the wild card race than schools with...
