    Patricia “Pat” Lynn (Newell) Mohler, 68 of Coolidge, Ariz., formerly of Hardy, was born on Oct. 25, 1953, at Superior, to Earl and Alvina (Grummert) Newell. She died on Sept. 8, 2022, at her son’s residence. Pat was the youngest of six. She was raised in Hardy and graduated with the Class of 1972. She was united in marriage to Evan Mohler on June 21, 1974. They had three children: Kimberly, Kory and Laci. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and solving crossword puzzles.     It's a case of not quite enough for the Rock Hills High School volleyball team. In their past five matches they won at least one set but were unable to scale the summit of winning the second set and the match. The Grizzlies hosted Osborne and Thunder Ridge at Mankato Tuesday for a triangular match. Osborne won in three set, 25-23, 27-25 and 25-14. Thunder Ridge took three sets, 15-25, 25-15 and 25-15, to down Rock Hills. The Grizlies stay close in all their matches but just not quite enough. It...

    The Rock Hills High School football team proved to be no match for the Thunder Ridge Longhorns at Mankato, Friday. Thunder Ridge completed there 54-8 romp at the 7:39 mark of the third quarter leaving the Grizzlies with an 0-2 record for the young season. Mason McMains posted four solo tackles and had six assisted tackles for the game. Isaiah Ridgeway landed two solo tackles and had seven assists.     The Lawrence-Nelson High School football team refused to allow their narrow loss last week get in the way. They rebounded nicely against a previously unbeaten Arapahoe team, at Arapahoe, Friday, with a 68-14 trouncing of the Warriors. The Raiders scored early and often against a hapless Arapahoe defense.     It was a rough week for the Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team as their strength of schedule continues to handicap the team. The Raiders went 2-3 in their last five matches. The week started off well with a hard fought three-set, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-17 win against Friend at Friend last Tuesday. A visit to Deshler, Thursday, resulted in a four-set, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 17-25 loss to the Dragons. Lawrence-Nelson hosted a tournament Saturday and they were rudely treated by their guests.     Rowan Jarosik scored another first place finish for the USD South Central Red Raiders when he crossed the finish line at the Fairbury Invitational Thursday. It was his second consecutive first place finish in two races. His time over the 5K course was 17:58. Sean Heaton was in 72nd place with the time of 23:18.     It was a long week for the Superior Wildcats volleyball team. The team played six matches in four days going 4-2 over that stretch and watching a five match win streak come to an end. Superior feasted on the Kenesaw Blue Devils, 25-14 and 25-19, in a two-set sweep of a home triangular match. They followed up with a two-set, 25-16 and 25-23, win over Doniphan-Trumbull.     The Superior High School cross country team competed at the Fairbury Invitational Thursday. The 5K races were run at the high school course. Superior posted no team scores as they did not field at least four runners in eaxh class. Colten Butler took 53rd place in the men’s 5k with his time of 22:03.4. There were 117 starters in the field.     The Superior High School football team visted Kensaw Friday for a game with the Blue Devils. The Wildcats left feeling blue after being bedeviled 36-14. Sueprior held the lead at 7-6 after the first period. Kenesaw came back to score two touchdowns to one for the Wildcats to lead 22-14 at the half.     The Superior High School girls golf team visited Grand Island last Tuesday for a dual match with Doniphan-Trumbull. The teams played a nine-hole match over the Indianhead Golf Course. The team played the Heartland Invitational Thursday at Henderson over the Galaway Golf course. Superior continued their stellar season with second place honors at the Fairbury Invitational Monday.
