People who teach other people to write usually preach that a person should write what he knows, or is most familiar with. Since I’m still learning to write, I’m going with that theory this week. I know I’ve written about some of our medical trials recently, and I hope I don’t bore you with more. However, after this past week, medical stuff is what I’m most familiar with, so here we go. I’m not wanting to complain, just making observations. I felt I saw the future this past week and I didn’t like what I saw. What I saw was what our National Heal...
I got letters from Jacob yesterday, not the standard letters, but actual letters! He wrote across the top of one in giant print, “I LOVE YOU!” That made my day! I thought the days of the kids’ scribbles on the refrigerator were over for now, but maybe not. This mama’s heart is happy. I’ve been cleaning out the garage in preparation for community yard sales, which are coming up. Who knew one family could have accumulated so much unnecessary items. I have promised myself that whatever I place on the sale, and does not sell, will not come back...

The Lawrence-Nelson High School football team refused to allow their narrow loss last week get in the way. They rebounded nicely against a previously unbeaten Arapahoe team, at Arapahoe, Friday, with a 68-14 trouncing of the Warriors. The Raiders scored early and often against a hapless Arapahoe defense. The second half was played under the mercy rule with a running clock. That didn't stop Lawrence-Nelson from putting on their best offessive and defensive show of the season. Krayton Kucera...
It was a rough week for the Lawrence-Nelson volleyball team as their strength of schedule continues to handicap the team. The Raiders went 2-3 in their last five matches. The week started off well with a hard fought three-set, 25-23, 25-23 and 25-17 win against Friend at Friend last Tuesday. A visit to Deshler, Thursday, resulted in a four-set, 13-25, 25-22, 25-20 and 17-25 loss to the Dragons. Lawrence-Nelson hosted a tournament Saturday and they were rudely treated by their guests. Exeter-Mill...

The Red Cross Bloodmobile arrived in Nelson early Friday morning, for the regular blood drive. The day ran smoothly this time. No one had to wait more than a couple minutes. Since the Red Cross lifted all of their restrictions, everyone was able to enjoy a full lunch with coffee after their donation, thanks to the Nelson PEO Ladies. We’re back to the way things were before COVID-19! The collection came up a little short of meeting the goal again, mainly because several that weren’t quite eligible because of the dates and number of times they ca...
