Cliff was born Sept. 24, 1927, to Reuben and Wilda (Treaster) Better on the family farm north of Solomon Rapids. Cliff attended country school and graduated from Beloit High School in 1945. Jay H. Jensen, 66, son of Herbert Jensen and Mildred (Schlamann) Jensen, was born Oct. 20, 1953, at Superior. He died Thursday at his home in Chester, Neb. Jay was raised on a farm near Hardy, with six siblings: John, Jesse, Jim, Jerry, Jolene and Serita. Jay P. Gunn, 65, the son of Donald and Mary (Ahrens) Gunn, was born July 7,1955, in Superior. He died Friday, at Mary Lanning Health Services in Hastings. Survivors include his sons: Justin Gunn of Clay Center, Neb., and Perry Gunn of Hebron; sisters, Lana Horst and Dixie Osborne, both of Edgar; brother, Jeff Gunn of Nelson; three grandchildren and other relatives. Elmer O’Riely Youngs, Jr., 64, was born on July 15, 1956, in Batavia, N.Y., and he died Aug. 12, 2020, at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville. Elmer married Tina L. Outcalt in Nelson in 1989. Elmer worked as a journeyman painter and enjoyed time with his grandchildren. Neal Jennings, the son of Mabel (Gouldie) and Harold Jennings, was born Aug. 31, 1946, at Lebanon, Kan. He died Monday, Aug. 24, 2020, at the Smith Center Health and Rehab Center, Smith Center, Kan., at the age of 73. Neal graduated from the Lebanon High School with the class of 1964. He served with the United States Army 9th infantry and was a Vietnam War veteran. The month of August, 2020 may be well remembered in the home of David and Dawn Theer. On Friday, Aug. 14, little Henry David Theer was born at the Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings. He came into the world weighing 9 pound, 11 oz. and was 21.5 inches long. Joining dad and mom, David and Dawn to welcome him were siblings Preslea Adams and Eleanor Theer.
