    P.E.O. Chapter J held their regular business meeting at the home of Connie Porter on July 8. Following the regular meeting, hostess Connie served a variety of low carb foods and gave a synopsis of how diet can be used to lower the A1C of those with diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions. She also provided a sample test for members to guess which foods had the higher carbohydrate content.     Jakki and Rixten Drohman, Oak, and Chizum Wehrman, Nelson, were a few of those who enjoyed movie night at the library on Saturday evening. It was the second outdoor movie shown for the season and nearly 20 people came to view Godzilla x Kong The New Empire.   • Improved St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery at Byron

    St. Paul Lutheran Church at Byron Nebraska has made a significant improvement to their cemetery at the edge of town. A new black decorative fence has been erected surrounding the grave site. It will help control unwanted matter to accumulate on the graves and gives the cemetery a fresh clean look.     Richard Lynn Corman was born Oct. 18, 1948, in Davenport, Nebraska to Vernon and Betty (Anderson) Corman, the first of four children. He died Friday, July 12, 2024, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, at the age of 75. He battled Parkinson's disease for at least 10 years. As a youth, Richard enjoyed working with horses and cattle on the family farm and participating in 4-H activities.     Quentin Junior Leece, son of Quentin and Shirley J. (Heldt) Leece, was born on Sept. 14, 1941, in Superior, Nebraska. He died on July 13, 2024, at the age of 82. He attended Lovewell High School and dedicated his entire career to construction, a field in which he found both fulfillment and success.
