Jerry Bargen, the adopted son of Chester and Ruth (Green) Bargen, was born on Dec. 11, 1945, in Julesburg, Colorado, to Meryl and Hazel Hewgley. He died on May 6, 2023, at the University Medical Center at Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 77 years, 4 months 25 days. Rosanne M. Newell of Superior Nebraska, was born on June 30, 1949, in Friend, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Vera M. and Walter J. Endorf and grew up on a farm outside of Tobias. She died May 12, 2023, while living at Good Samaritan Society's Superior home. Rosanne was baptized July 17, 1949, at Zion Lutheran Church Tobias. On April 12,1969, she married Lonnie E. The funeral for Donald J. Smith, age 92 of Cawker City, was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, at the Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cawker City. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, May 10, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. Survivors include his daughters, Jennifer Chriestenson of Mankato and Janet Cochran of Cawker City; nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
