    L-N track hosts invite The Sandy Creek High School track was home to the Russ Snyder Invitational sponsored by Lawrence-Nelson High School Thursday. The Lawrence-Nelson girls finished in seventh place, with 21 points, in the eight team field of Bruning-Davenport-Shickley, Shelton, Meridian, Silver Lake, Kenesaw, Blue Hill and Harvard. The boys were in fourth place with 65 points. Jessica Sole was in sixth place in the girls 1600 meter run with her time of 7:08.5.     The 2023 edition of the L-N Raider golf team is making a name for itself. It has brought home several championship trophies so far in the season and last week it brought home a much coveted trophy from the Twin Valley Conference Tournament. In past years the Raiders had individuals who golfed with the leaders in area schools.     Rock Hills High School hosted the Grizzly Invitational track meet at Mankato Friday. The Grizzly girls finished in fourth place, with 51 points, in the 14 team field of Washington County, Osborne, Hanover, Republic County, Linn, Stockton, Thunder Ridge, Pike Valley, Smith Center, St, John’s, Lakeside, Tipton Catholic and Southern Cloud.     Judy Kay Malmos, 78, of Superior, died May 5, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born to Orville and Vivene Morrow, June 2, 1944, in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Judy graduated from O'Neill High School in 1962, and attended beauty school in Lincoln.     Ruth Darlene Brumbaugh, 96, the daughter of Erma (Kaufman) and Henry A. Brooks, was born Dec. 12, 1926, on the farm south of Guide Rock. She died May 5, 2023, at the Heritage Care Center in Red Cloud. A lifelong resident of Webster County, Darlene received her formal education attending rural schools and graduated from the Guide Rock High School with the Class of 1944, with a certificate in normal training and then taught rural school in the Guide Rock area.     The Superior Country Club golf course was the site of the Southern Nebraska Conference tournament Thursday. The event was anything but dull as Mother Nature decided to add some spice to the game. The girls team finished in second place, with 135 points, in the six team field of Milford, Sutton, Heartland Community, Aurora and High Plains Community.
