For those who don't know, the Del Wick's Track Meet in Deshler was named after the deceased newspaper publisher of the Deshler paper. He loved the sport and made arrangements for the Deshler School to sponsor the event, long after his death. That said, the 2021 edition of the Invitational Meet saw the L-N teams do well. On April 13, the L-N golf team traveled to Red Cloud for a triangular match with Red Cloud and Blue Hill. The nine-hole event was won by Red Cloud who carded a team score of 202. L-N and Blue Hill came in with identical scores of 213. Blue Hill’s Mclayne Seeman recorded the afternoon’s lowest score with a 43. However, L-N’s Krayton Kucera and Conner Janda each had 49s. Former Fairfield, Deweese and Edgar resident, and most recently a Superior resident, Lana J. Black, was born Sept. 29, 1950, in Hastings. She died Friday, April 18, 2021, at the age of 70, at her home in Superior. Lana was born to Harold and Dorthy Shaw and graduated with the first class from Sandy Creek in 1968.
