Massive fires near Nelson, Guide Rock, Burr Oak and most recently, near Arapahoe, have burned thousands of acres of land, and consumed millions of dollars’ worth of feed, fences, equipment, and buildings, including homes and personal property.     The Lawrence-Nelson boys and girls high school track and field teams didn't have much time to rest between meets this past week. The Raiders competed at the Deshler Twilight Meet last Tuesday. The teams returned to Deshler again for the Del Wicks Invitational meet Thursday. The girls team finished in third place, with 109 points, in the three team field the Twilight Meet.     The Lawrence-Nelson High School boys golf team played two events in three days at Red Cloud. The Raiders came in second place at the triangular match, lastTuesday, with a team score of 199 for the nine-hole match. Blue Hill and Red Cloud were the other teams playing. The Raiders used the Tuesday match as a warm-up event for the Red Cloud Invitational Thursday. The Raiders came out on top of the 13 team field with a team score of 368 for the 18-hole event.     It was a busy Thursday for the Superior High School boys and girls track and field teams. The Wildcats competed at two different meets. One squad traveled to Syracuse for the Scott Nisely Memorial Classic at Syracuse High School. There were 11 teams at the meet, nine Class B schools, Norris, Nebraska City, Crete, Beatrice, Syracuse, Lincoln Christian, Auburn, Fairbury and Falls City.
