Area residents had more than a few rocky hours Monday night and Tuesday as a series of spring storms rolled through the area. The 2024 Spring weather is not conducive for the track events. Those Nebraska winds seem to have an effect on most all events. The L-N Raiders traveled to Deshler last week for the annual Del Wicks Track Meet. They were one of nine schools competing in the meet. Leonard Henry Wortman died April 8, 2024, at home, at the age of 93 years, 9 months 17 days. He was born to Henry and Johanna (Stolnow) Wortman on June 22, 1930, at the family farm at Ruskin, Nebraska. Leonard served in the Marines and was stationed in California. The Golf Team from Lawrence- Nelson High School spent several days last week at the Red Cloud Golf Course. They enjoyed a Tri-angular Meet followed with a 14 team tournament.
