Ron Wilton, 78, died Feb. 23 at Lincoln, Neb. He was born Nov. 17, 1942, to Clarence and Ruby (Bargen) Wilton at Superior. He was a 1960 graduate of Superior High School and a 1964 graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. With limited vision, he worked as a dairy facility manager for Meadow Gold in Holiewa, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; and brother, Dennis. Survivors include a sister, Jan Leecr; and a brother Daryl Wilton. His funeral will be at a later date....
William H. Bingham died Friday, Feb. 26, 2021. He was born Dec. 8, 1930, in Abilene, Kan., to William H. Oliver, Jr. and Charlotte Oliver. He was later adopted by Harry and Lucille (Allen) Bingham. The family moved around to find work in the early 1930s, eventually moving to Mont- rose, where they lived with his grandfather on his farm, south of town. Martha K. DeNayer was born on April 3, 1917, near Holcomb, Kan., the daughter of Char-les A. and Anna Bertha (Maune) Krug. Martha was one of 11 children born to Charles and Anna. She grew up in the Holcomb community, attending school in Garden City and Satanta, and obtaining her GED in Ft. Collins, Colo. The Rock Hills High School boys basketball team fell to Osborne 38-32, at Osborne, Tuesday. The team was seeded number one in their sub-state bracket. They received a first round bye. The Grizzlies were unable to overcome a six point deficit in the final period as they lost their final regular season game. Davion McDonald put up 19 points for the Grizzlies. Rock Hills takes on number four seed Stockton at Osborne Friday. Should they prove successful they will play Saturday for a berth at the state tournament....
The Bruning-Davenport-Shickley Eagles girls basketball team is making a return trip to the state basketball tournament B-D-S swept their sub-district D1-7 bracket at Davenport. They reached the district final with 58-32 win over the Heartland Huskies. They downed Meridian 56-28 to reach the D2-6 district final. The Lawrence-Nelson girls basketball team made a strong run through sub-district play, sweeping their bracket, to earn a place in the district final. Unfortunately for them, the other place in their district final bracket was filled with state ranked number two Falls City Sacred heart.
