    The Lawrence-Nelson boys basketball team lost to Blue Hill, 62-44, at Blue Hill, last Tuesday. The Silver Lake Mustangs handed them a 59-43 loss at Roseland Friday. The Raiders opened Twin Valley Conference Tournament play Tuesday against Silver Lake at Shelton with game results unavailable at press time. No matter the outcome of Tuesday’s game, the Raiders will play Saturday at Hastings College. The Raiders travel to Harvard Tuesday for a game with the Cardinals....

    The Rock Hills High School wrestlers who compete with Beloit during the regular season were at the Beloit Invitational, Friday, Jan. 21. Coe Nielson took sixth place and earned 9 team points in the 106 pound weight bracket. Conner Cosand earned one team point in the 126 pound weight bracket. Jacob Barry competed at 138 pounds. Nielson took first place at the Hoisington Cardinal Classic at Hoisington Friday. He earned 26 team points for his win in the 106 pound weight bracket. He now sports a 15-7 record for the season.     The Rock Hills High School girls basketball team has quietly put together a four game win streak. They downed Tescott, 37-30, at Tescott, last Tuesday. Win number four came with their 37-27 win against Wilson at Mankato Friday. The Grizzlies now have a 7-6 record for the season. Sylvan-Lucas was in Mankato Tuesday for a game with results unavailable at press time. Lauren Whelchel dropped through 23 points to lead the Grizzlies offense against Tescott.     The Rock Hills High School boys basketball team edged Tescott 26-25, at Tescott, last Tuesday for their second win of the season. They lost a close 43-40 game to Wilson at Mankato Friday. Sylvan-Lucas was in Mankato Tuesday for a game with the Grizzlies with game results unavailable at press time. Wyatt Evert hit for 16 points against Wilson. Ethan Kenworthy contributed 110 points.     The Superior High School boys basketball team picked up their second win of the season when they cruised past the Deshler Dragons, 42-20, at Superior last Tuesday. The Auburn Bulldogs handed the Wildcats a 66-19 loss at Auburn Friday. Superior lost their opening round game of the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament game 56-42 to Fillmore Central at Geneva.     The Superior High School wrestling team finished in seventh place, with 49 points, at the Southern Nebraska Conference Tournament held at Fillmore Central High School, Geneva, Friday and Saturday. Other teams competing were David City, Milford, Fillmore Central, Fairbury, Centennial, Wilber-Clatonia, Sutton and South Central.     It was one romp of a game and one nailbiter for the Superior High School girls basketball team over their past two games. The Wildcats cruised past the Deshler Dragons, 40-24, at Superior, last Tuesday. It was a different story when they took on the Class C-1 Auburn Bulldogs, at Auburn, Friday.     Debra Kaye Vaughan, 63, died after a long fought battle of respiratory failure exacerbated by COVID-19 on Dec. 27, 2021, at Brod- stone Memorial Hospital, Superior. Debra was born on Dec. 10, 1958, in Kansas City, Mo., to Clifford R. Showers and Jean M. (Anderson) Showers. Debra was a caregiver to her core, and took great pride in the level of care she was able to give to others.     Francis John Krotzinger, Jr., the son of Francis John, Sr. and Pauline (Butler) Krotz- inger, was born on Jan. 11, 1939 in Marys- ville, Kan. He died Jan. 28, 2022 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, at the age of 83 years and 17 days. Francis was baptized and confirmed at St Gregory's Catholic Church.     A former Superior resident, Richard E. “Rich” Thibodeau, 86, of Hays, died Jan. 19, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Hays, Kan. He was born in Woburn, Mass., to Earnest and Agnes (Gaudet) Thibodeau. He left a legacy of creativity and inspiration. Although he attended Sanborn Seminary in Kingston, N.H., served in the U.S. Army and studied painting at Northern Arizona University and Highlands University in Las Vegas, N.M., he followed his own path through life.
