Edna Fern Louder was born near Barnard, Kansas, in 1936 to Glen and Velma (Wright) Louder. At age 5, her family bought a farm near Burr Oak, where she enjoyed time outside on the farm with her dad. Edna had a younger brother that died as a toddler because of complications caused by mumps. She attended school in Burr Oak where she became an avid speller. Spelling was always her favorite subject. Phyllis Esther (Warren) Lange, 93, of Mankato, died Jan. 23, 2023. Phyllis was born on Feb. 20, 1929, the daughter of James and Ada (Bacon) Warren, on the family farm. Phyllis was married to Arthur Alvin "Bill" Lange on Sept. 3, 1954. They spent their lives farming and raising cattle while working full-time – Bill for the Kansas Department of Transportation, and Phyllis for the Rural Electrical Association Cooperative. Bill Edwards, 72, of Bloomington, Illinois, died Jan. 27, 2023, in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Bill was born in Beloit, Kansas, on May 19, 1950, to William C. and Evelyn Smith Edwards. He spent his youth in Jewell, Kansas. Bill married his high school sweetheart, Diane Mc- Elroy of Randall, Kansas, on May 19, 1973, and soon after they moved to Bloomington. Coe Nielson earned a first place finish in the 113 pound weight bracket for the Beloit Trojans at the Hoisington Cardinals Classic Friday. He earned 16.5 team points for Beloit.
