Mary Foley and Walt Wilson picked up the government commodities in Belleville last Wednesday morning and delivered them to the Christian Church basement for sorting and boxing.     Mary Foley accompanied Mike and Mindy Kilgore, Bennington, to Pittsburg, Kan., last Friday. They stayed for the weekend with Megan, Nathan and Evan Keener. The group celebrated Evan’s second birthday with a party on Saturday. The theme and his favorite cartoon character was Scooby Do.     Wanda Frasier enjoyed getting away Wednesday and Thursday into the Sand Hills of Nebraska. Enroute she stopped in Franklin at the park with the WWII planes, tank and other military memorabilia, in observance of Veteran’s Day. She traveled on to the Alliance area. There she met up with a friend. They enjoyed shopping at thrift shops and a higher end commission boutique, as well as touring Carhenge and the replica of the old Alliance town.     David and Lori Barnes, Smith Center, visited Cliff and Glenny Barnes last Wednesday and took them out for lunch. David was doing some electrical work for his parents. Wand Frasier attended a rally and cruise Friday in McPherson for President Donald Trump. Wanda reported there were more than 100 vehicles.     Bruce and Sharon Custer, Hoisington, visited Gary and Penny Turner and Cliff and Glenny Barnes last Wednesday. The group had lunch at the local cafe and caught up on what each one had been doing. Bruce was the high school principal at White Rock in the late 1990s. He then served as superintendent of schools for White Rock in the early 2000s.     The community was saddened by the unexpected death of Larry Gillett last Wednesday evening. His funeral was held on Monday, at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church. Pastors Les Ellis, Tom Korb and Rod Rose were the officiants. Larry, 77, was a 1961 graduate of Burr Oak Rural High School. He is survived by his twin sister, Sandra Franco, and sister, Marcia Litzenberger and many nieces and nephews.
